Welcome to Blume Therapy, LLC
There are many reasons that people seek therapy. No matter the specific reason, you are probably here because you are struggling with something that matters to you a great deal. I have training and experience in treating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, grief and loss, issues related to identity, and dissatisfaction with one’s life and oneself. I have also undergone advanced training to treat perinatal mood disorders, pre- and postpartum anxiety, and issues related to reproduction.
My approach
Therapy is a relational process intended to help people increase their self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-efficacy. I view my role as a therapist as understanding alongside you what is getting in the way of living a more satisfying life, making sense of how you came to be where you are now, and identifying together in what ways you would like to make changes.
A primary focus of my work is centered around relationships: with family members, friends, colleagues, the therapy relationship, and especially the relationship we have with ourselves. I believe there is value in recognizing patterns in our life over time and how these impact our choices for the future. In this way, I consider myself an attachment-focused, psychodynamic therapist. I also believe that healing and change occur in the context of the new emotional experiences that therapy can offer. In this sense, I consider myself an emotion-focused, experiential therapist. In addition to these frameworks, my background and training includes significant experience with mindfulness-based and compassion-focused therapies, which I draw from in my work. In all of the work that I do, I strive to provide culturally-oriented care, where the many intersections of your identity are at the heart of understanding who you are and the strengths you possess.
